Primary Function: The position is responsible for assisting with routine operations of the library to enhance customer service to all Bellevue University patrons.


Essential Functions:


Circulation functions 

  • Assists library patrons both in person and on the telephone.
  • Checks materials in and out at the circulation desk. 
  • Shelves all books and library resources.
  • Shelf-reads the entire library collection.
  • Assists with inventorying the entire library collection.
  • Assists patrons in the use of library equipment.
  • Assists in the maintenance of books, periodicals, newspapers and audiovisual material.
  • Assists in the process of new materials


Other duties as assigned

  • Assists in the processing of new materials including books, audiovisual materials and computer software.
  • Assists other Library departments as needed.


Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as requested. 


Qualifications/Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Library experience helpful but not necessary.
  • Must be able to work with standard office equipment such as computers, photocopying machines, computers, scanners, and printers.
  • Must be flexible to accommodate organizational needs.


Working Conditions:

  • Works in a normal library environment. 
  • Occasional standing and stooping for shelving and shelf reading


Additional Requirement

  • This is a Federal Work Study (FWS) student employee position that is open only to currently enrolled Bellevue University students who have Federal Work Study as part of their financial aid package. Students must have completed a FAFSA and accepted their FWS offer before they can apply for a FWS position.
