About the role
You’ll take end-to-end ownership of a technical area — planning it, designing it, shipping it, running it in production, holding its quality bar, and growing the engineers working on it. You’ll write and review a lot of code, and you’ll also be accountable for whether the team delivers predictably.

What you’ll own
  • Planning — Turn product goals into technical milestones. Write HLDs/LLDs. Surface dependencies and risks early. Track progress and correct course when delivery drifts.
  • Platform — Work on Increff's core platform, building and scaling reliable, high-throughput systems that power our products and enable seamless business operations.
  • Delivery — Run stand-ups and sprint planning, make commitments the team can meet, and own release readiness: scope, testing, risks, cut-offs.
  • Solutioning — Design and build the major and high-risk components of your area. Drive refactoring where it pays off. Balance MVP scope against maintainability.
  • Quality — Review for correctness, security, performance, and reliability. Act as merge-quality gatekeeper. Keep test coverage sufficient and production defects low, with RCA on what slips through.
  • Mentorship — Coach 3–4 SDE-I engineers through reviews, pairing, and design walkthroughs until they own features end to end.
  • Production health — Own alerts, dashboards, runbooks, and incident response for your area. Protect data correctness and security. Keep docs current.
  • Productivity — Automate repetitive work and quality checks. Use AI for research, task breakdown, and edge-case discovery — and validate its output.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years building and operating production software, with real ownership of at least one module or service.
  • Strong fundamentals in [Java / Spring Boot] and [SQL / relational data modelling].
  • System design ability — you can defend your choices and name what you traded away.
  • Strong debugging instincts on live systems, under pressure.
  • Clear technical writing; your design docs should be readable outside your immediate team.
  • Calm, structured communication and the habit of anticipating problems rather than reacting to them.
  • AI -native developer experience- familiarity with AI-assisted development tools
