What you'll do...
About the Role As a Software Engineer III at Walmart, you will design, build, and scale high‑impact systems across backend services, automation frameworks, and GenAI‑powered engineering tools. You will work across complex distributed systems, native mobile and web automation, and AI‑driven workflows that accelerate engineering productivity across Walmart’s global eCommerce and Store ecosystems. What You Will Do GenAI Engineering- Build and integrate AI‑powered agents, workflows, and automation systems using modern GenAI frameworks and APIs.
- Develop intelligent tools that improve engineering productivity, defect detection, and operational efficiency.
- Partner with engineering, product, and platform teams to scale GenAI adoption across the organization.
- Design, develop, and maintain high‑scale backend services, REST APIs, and automation pipelines.
- Build scripts, tools, and services that improve engineering efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Ensure backend systems meet availability, scalability, performance, and security requirements.
- Integrate telemetry, monitoring, and CI/CD best practices into backend services.
- Build and maintain end‑to‑end automation frameworks for backend, web, and native mobile platforms.
- Write and automate test plans, test cases, and regression suites for large‑scale eCommerce applications.
- Execute functional, integration, regression, and performance testing across platforms.
- Troubleshoot automation failures and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve issues.
- Improve and optimize the software development lifecycle through automation and tooling.
- Track program metrics, report progress, and ensure adherence to milestones and quality standards.
- Perform root‑cause analysis, defect management, and regression testing.
- Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, tools, and automation pipelines.
- Monitor application performance, logs, telemetry, and system health.
- Perform maintenance, debugging, and re‑engineering activities across backend and QE systems.
- Evaluate change requests and ensure compliance with security, quality, and operational standards.
- 5+ years of experience in backend engineering, automation, or quality engineering.
- Strong experience with Node.js, JavaScript, Python, or similar languages.
- Hands‑on experience with REST APIs, distributed systems, and backend automation.
- Experience with mobile/web automation frameworks (Appium, TestCafe, XCUI Test, Espresso).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern DevOps tooling.
- Strong understanding of system integration, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience building or integrating GenAI‑powered applications, agents, or workflows.
- Experience designing automation frameworks for Native, Web, or Backend platforms.
- Experience with large‑scale eCommerce, retail, or customer‑facing systems.
- Strong understanding of quality engineering principles, test strategy, and defect management.
- Ability to navigate and influence large cross‑functional engineering teams.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
