This is a full-time onsite role at our Bethlehem facility.

At ABEC, you'll design and deliver the automation systems behind the equipment used to manufacture life-saving medicines, vaccines, and therapies. This is a hands-on role where you'll lead projects, solve complex challenges, and see your work come to life from concept through startup.


What You'll Do

  • Lead automation projects from design through commissioning.
  • Develop and program PLC, HMI, DCS, and instrumentation solutions.
  • Define automation scope, specifications, and system architecture.
  • Partner with customers, engineering, manufacturing, and field teams.
  • Support FATs, SATs, startup, troubleshooting, and system integration.
  • Manage schedules, resources, and project costs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of automation engineering experience.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley, DeltaV, and/or Siemens platforms.
  • Strong PLC programming, controls design, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to develop solutions from process requirements and P&IDs.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.

Bonus Points

  • Biopharma or pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • cGMP and GAMP 5 knowledge.
  • FAT/SAT and commissioning experience.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement experience.

Position Summary:

The Automation Engineer utilizes independent judgment to perform the day-to-day project duties of designing, developing and releasing deliverables used in the fabrication of equipment for pilot and commercial scale biopharmaceutical manufacturing (primarily piping assemblies for fluid & gas handling and motorized agitation systems). Primary responsibility involves generating design plans. This position requires a high level of attention to detail along with the ability to develop a strong understanding of Bioprocessing Equipment design standards.
