Job Description

Fills in for Shift Supervisor in training and other product duties. Leads the shift when the Shift Supervisor is off Follows operating procedures, rules and instructions to work in a safe fashion; is familiar with and understands all relevant procedures

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

 

  • Fills in for Shift Supervisor in training and other product duties. Leads the shift when the Shift Supervisor is off 

  • Follows operating procedures, rules and instructions to work in a safe fashion; is familiar with and understands all relevant procedures 

  • Help drive 5S and SFTI in the Manufacturing department 

  • Plan, supervise, direct and engage in daily production operations and anticipate production problems, such that loss of production is minimized, and production and quality objectives are achieved 

  • Assist the operators in the performance of their duties as necessary to meet production goals 

  • Assists in troubleshooting automation and operational issues 

  • Enter and review SAP data 

  • Submit work orders and coordinate work with Maintenance 

  • Report alarms and take appropriate action 

  • Work with operators to verify operation of equipment 

  • Achieve manufacturing schedule and production goals 

  • May be required at times to perform tasks associated with the Production Operator and/or Control Room Operator job descriptions and duties, including running of manual and/or automated process steps 

  • Responsible for producing manufacturing batch records that are completed and accurate utilizing both electronic and manually recorded data 

  • Ensure manufacturing area and control systems are audit ready at all times with up to date documentation and a clean and organized environment 

  • Cooperates with management and colleagues on site to provide a safe and healthy working environment 

  • Create reports using electronic data from manufacturing systems 

  • Reports all personal injuries, near misses, and accidents, however minor, to their supervisor and reports each in WSO 

  • Understands and performs work activities in accordance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) (21 CFR 210 & 211) in all areas of business where the cGMPs apply. 

  • Reads meters and gauges or automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify operating conditions. 

  • Operates and controls electric motors, pumps and valves to regulate flow of chemicals. 

  • Adjusts manual controls or overrides automatic controls (when directed) to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating ranges, switch to backup equipment or systems, or to shut down equipment. 

  • Sweeps, mops, dusts, polishes, waxes, etc. as needed. 

  • Assists other functional departments when needed including: Maintenance, Packaging, Warehouse, Engineering, Quality Control, etc. 

  • Performs other duties as requested by the Shift Supervisor.

Education/Experience 

 

  • High school diploma required with three to five years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in a clear and professional manner. 

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent; and to draw and interpret bar graphs and scatter plots. 

  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
