As a Machinist 2, you will be responsible for the functions outlined below, performing all Machinist 1 functions with increased proficiency and taking on program prove-out and optimization tasks under the supervision of programmers and engineers.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform all of the essential functions of a Machinist 1.
  • Conform to and operate within the framework of all applicable operator work instructions, SOPs, quality, and safety procedures.
  • Optimize programs and processes to improve cycle time and increase capability.
  • Set up and prove out programs from programmers.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping of work area; keep all machines, tools, equipment, and work surfaces free of oil, grease, etc.
  • Train machine operators in the performance of their assigned duties.
  • Responsible for demonstrating commitment to and leadership of environmental health and safety principles, policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the company’s efforts to continuously improve in Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
  • Expected to be a contributor to the company standards on high integrity, safety, fair and equitable treatment and a positive work environment
  • Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); typically 4–6 years of prior manufacturing experience or a combination of experience, education, and/or training to sufficiently and successfully perform the essential functions of the job. A two-year technical degree or approved apprenticeship in related coursework (i.e., CNC mill or lathe) is a plus.
  • Proficient in multiple competencies relevant to the job.
  • Must have an understanding of basic programming strategies; ability to interpret machine tool programming languages (G & M codes) to perform troubleshooting and changeovers.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading.
  • Has knowledge of metalworking tools, work holding, and other common concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
  • Teamwork and the ability to cooperate and work proactively with others is a must.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and work in accordance with our Company Values.
  • It is understood employees may be assigned to other departments, functional groups, and/or shifts as deemed necessary by management.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting and bending throughout the work day.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, to include working in and around machinery, exposure to noise and chemicals, lights/lasers, etc.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by your position and/or Company policy.
