This Medical Scribe聽role is an excellent opportunity for individuals planning to pursue advanced education in healthcare, such as medical school, physician assistant school, physical therapy school, nursing, or related programs.
The position is ideally suited for candidates in a gap year (or two)聽following undergraduate education or those currently completing a healthcare鈥憆elated degree and seeking meaningful hands鈥憃n clinical exposure. Working alongside orthopedic clinicians, scribes gain real鈥憈ime insight into clinical decision鈥憁aking, musculoskeletal conditions, and patient care workflows.
Primary Functions & Responsibilities
- Accurately document patient encounters in the electronic medical record, including:
- Chief complaint
- History of present illness (HPI)
- Review of systems
- Past medical history, medications, and allergies
- Record detailed musculoskeletal physical exam findings, including pertinent positives, negatives, and abnormalities
- Document clinician assessments and treatment plans with a level of detail appropriate to case complexity
- Ensure timely, thorough, and compliant clinical documentation while supporting provider efficiency
- Maintain professionalism and patient confidentiality in a fast鈥憄aced clinical environment
Ideal Candidate Profile
This role is not entry鈥憀evel clerical work - it is intended for individuals who are serious about pursuing a future in healthcare.
Strongly preferred candidates will have one or more of the following:
- Bachelor鈥檚 degree or current enrollment in a healthcare鈥憆elated or science鈥慴ased major聽(e.g., biology, kinesiology, exercise science, health sciences)
- Prior healthcare or clinical exposure (e.g., medical scribing, CNA, EMT, MA, athletic training, physical therapy aide, research, shadowing)
- Demonstrated interest in pursuing advanced clinical education聽(MD/DO, PA, PT, NP, etc.)
- Comfort working in a clinical setting with clinicians and patients
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficient knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and common clinical conditions
- Excellent computer proficiency and typing skills (60+ WPM preferred)
- Ability to quickly synthesize and accurately document complex medical information
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to function effectively in a fast鈥憄aced environment

Compensation Range for this position:
$14.23 - $21.35Compensation for this role will be based on several factors, including the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, education, skills, certifications, geography/market, and internal equity considerations.
