Job Description
Summary
The Care Assistant role is pivotal in providing practical, emotional, and physical support to older individuals residing in a care home setting. The primary objective is to help residents maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life through personalized care. Working collaboratively with colleagues, the Care Assistant ensures the delivery of safe, compassionate, and effective care in line with individual care plans. The role may also involve supporting other service user groups as directed by the Registered Manager.
Responsibilities
- Personal Care & Support:
- Deliver personal care according to individual care plans.
- Assist with washing, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene.
- Aid residents with mobility and safe movement within the home.
- Support nutritional needs through assistance with eating and drinking.
- Encourage independence and daily living skills.

- Emotional & Social Support:
- Foster positive relationships with residents.
- Provide emotional support and companionship.
- Assist residents during illness, distress, or end-of-life care.
- Uphold dignity, respect, choice, and individuality.

- Encourage participation in activities and social interactions.
- Monitor and report changes in health or wellbeing.

- Keep accurate and up-to-date records.
- Complete daily notes and care documentation.
- Promptly report accidents, incidents, and safeguarding issues.

- Follow all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Engage in regular safety checks.

- Participate in training for moving and handling.
