JOB SUMMARY:

Northeastern University Planning, Real Estate & Facilities聽is seeking an Assistant Campus Planner to join a team of talented planners to join the Campus Planning & Design (CP&D) department. The role will support the planning group in drafting innovative solutions to space challenges and capital projects to position Northeastern for continued growth and success as a top-tier R1 research institution and global university.

The mission of Campus Planning and Design (CP&D) is to connect people, space, and resources to prepare the university to thrive in the future. This team of planners are responsible for the development of physical campus growth strategies for the growing global network of campuses.

Under direction from the Associate Vice President, the Assistant Campus Planner will report directly to the Director of Research & Academic Campus Planning while providing broader support to the CP&D team. The role critically supports CP&D鈥檚 responsibility for leading the broad range of strategic planning initiatives, space planning studies, and capital project scenario development, that align and maximize the utilization of space and capital investment with Northeastern鈥檚 mission. 聽The Assistant Campus Planner will support the team in developing communication materials that distill complex ideas into concise options and tradeoffs. 聽Additionally, they will help collect and interpret data, conduct planning research and analysis, and collaborate on active planning initiatives led by the CP&D team.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

路聽聽 Create strong visual communication materials including maps, presentations, and annotated floor plans to support departmental initiatives and project planning

路聽聽 Conduct data gathering/coordination and research support, including precedents

路聽聽 Create tools and generate materials to support and communicate multi-step space planning scenarios

路聽聽 Accurately survey and document field conditions for specific projects and planning initiatives

路聽聽 Conduct research on urban and campus planning initiatives including, but not limited to, mobility, housing, accessibility, best practices, as well as University space and capital project requests

路聽聽 Generally, support campus planning staff on specific projects and planning initiatives as needed (note taking, project and meeting coordination, etc.)

路聽聽 Prepare clear, well-organized written materials such as reports, meeting notes, memos, and project summaries to effectively communicate findings, action items, and recommendations

路聽聽 Leverage AI tools and other emerging technologies to enhance research, data analysis, and workflow efficiency across planning initiatives

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

路聽聽 Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture or a related field

路聽聽 At least two years of experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

路聽聽 Strong graphic illustration skills (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign) and experience distilling complex ideas into simple diagrams

路聽聽 Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills (PowerPoint, Excel)

路聽聽 Strong ability to communicate in written, verbal, and graphic form

路聽聽 Ability to switch between competing tasks and assignments

路聽聽 Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing projects with internal and external stakeholders.

路聽聽 Ability, willingness, and comfort working with people from various backgrounds, cultures, nationalities, linguistic styles, and socio-economic status.
