Role Summary

The Associate Director, External Communications will play a key role in advancing Servier’s external corporate narrative, strengthening enterprise reputation and supporting thought leadership for senior leaders and the company more broadly. This role will translate enterprise priorities into clear, compelling external messaging and communications programs that reinforce how the company is understood across stakeholder audiences and the broader industry.

 

Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Communications, this Boston-based role will serve as a trusted partner responsible for activating the company’s external communications strategy across channels, initiatives and new opportunities. The role will shape messaging, lead high-quality execution and strengthen scalable external communications capabilities for a growing organization.

 

This role will work closely with functional leaders across the organization, Corporate Affairs colleagues and external agency partners to ensure consistent, clear and differentiated storytelling aligned with enterprise priorities. The ideal candidate is a strong cross-functional communicator with sound judgment, excellent writing and message development skills, and experience working at the intersection of strategy and execution. They will bring a capability-building mindset, using data and insights to strengthen processes and continuously improve external communications strategies and execution.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and activate external communications strategies that translate enterprise priorities, business objectives, partnerships and organizational milestones into clear, cohesive storytelling
  • Support the company’s external corporate narrative and ensure messaging is consistently reflected across channels, materials and communications opportunities
  • Lead development of high-quality external communications materials, including messaging, statements, leadership materials, narrative tools and other core content in support of enterprise priorities
  • Partner across Corporate Affairs and with cross-functional stakeholders to align external storytelling with broader business priorities and communications objectives
  • Strengthen external communications processes, messaging tools and best practices as the organization grows and evolves
  • Execute measurement approaches and track KPIs established for enterprise communications initiatives to inform optimization and continuous improvement
  • Develop thought leadership strategies and visibility opportunities for senior leaders, including speaking engagements, authored content and other external platforms aligned with enterprise priorities
  • Partner with external agency teams to execute media and external communications strategies that reinforce corporate narrative and reputation priorities
  • Contribute to communications planning for key corporate milestones, partnerships, organizational developments and other high-visibility moments
  • Monitor the external landscape to identify reputational opportunities, emerging issues and areas where the company can strengthen visibility or differentiation
  • Coordinate with global communications colleagues as appropriate to support aligned external messaging and narrative consistency

 

Job Description

Candidate Profile

Education and Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of 8+ years of corporate communications experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare or related sectors
  • Experience leading external communications, corporate narrative, reputation and/or thought leadership programs in a complex or regulated environment
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling and message development skills across executive, corporate and external stakeholder audiences
  • Ability to operate independently with sound judgment and strong executio in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
  • Experience collaborating effectively with senior functional leaders and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Combination of agency and in-house biopharma experience preferred

 

 

Travel and Location

  • Travel 15%
  • Boston based hybrid position, requires in office presence 2-3 days a week

Salary Range

The salary range for this role is $160-$180k. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. Employees in this position are also eligible for Short-Term and Long-Term incentive programs.
