POSITION SUMMARY:
The Physical Therapist II conducts comprehensive assessments of inpatients with physical and functional deficits, planning and implementing physical therapy treatments to promote mobility, reduce pain, restore function, prevent permanent disability and restore independence, using various treatment techniques. Collaborates with other disciplines to arrange for appropriate follow-up care and facilitates a successful return to home and work environments. Provides student and new hire training according to departmental guidelines and participates in continuing education.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:āÆĀ
Conducts physical therapy evaluation procedures according to professional and departmental guidelines.āÆĀ
Responds to all consults in assigned area within 24 hours;Ā completesĀ evaluation and documentation.Ā
Reviews patient records, gathers necessary information, andĀ clarifiesĀ physicianāsĀ ordersĀ prior to assessing the patient.āÆĀ
Selects evaluation procedures that reflect understanding of the patientās diagnosis, abilities, and limitations.āÆĀ
Administers evaluation procedures according to the guidelines of standardized tests (including range of motion, manual muscle testing,Ā balance,Ā mobility); adapts evaluation procedures asĀ indicatedĀ to accommodate the specific needs of patients.āÆĀ
Interprets evaluation results, develops an integrated diagnostic impression, and makes recommendations.āÆĀ
Performs re-evaluations according to departmental policies, change inĀ patientāsĀ statusĀ or response to treatment.āÆĀ
Educates patient and caregiverĀ regardingĀ evaluationĀ findings and management of care recommendations.āÆĀ
Establishes treatment goals and plans that reflect the needs of the patients while meeting departmental, institutional, andĀ third-partyĀ reimbursement requirements.āÆĀ
Formulates treatment goals and plans that reflect the patientās unique psychological and functional deficits.āÆĀ
Establishes measurable and attainable short and long-term goals in collaboration withĀ patientĀ and/or caregiver.āÆĀ
Modifies goals asĀ warrantedĀ by changes inĀ patientāsĀ status.āÆĀ
Assesses discharge needs of the patient and caregiver, including but not limitedĀ to:Ā insurance issues, equipment needs, follow-up appointments, and appropriate use of community services.āÆĀ
Communicates patient care and discharge needs to team members as needed.Ā ArrangesĀ forĀ appropriate follow-up.āÆĀ

Serves asĀ clinicalĀ resource for other health care professionals on assigned floors.āÆInstructs andĀ assistsĀ ancillary and otherĀ personnelĀ as necessary.Ā

Communicates withĀ managerĀ about progress with orientation ofĀ new staffĀ to ensureĀ abilityĀ to functionĀ independently.Ā

JOB REQUIREMENTS
REQUIREDĀ EDUCATIONĀ AND EXPERIENCE:Ā
- Bachelorās / Masterās/Doctorate or equivalent in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.Ā āÆĀ
- Minimum 2Ā yearsā experience as a licensed PT including 1 year in acute careĀ
Ā
Ā PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Ā
- Ā ICU experience preferred.āÆĀ
Ā
Ā CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Ā
- Ā Ā Current Commonwealth of Massachusetts license.
- Current CPR certification.āÆ
- APTA and MCAPTA membership preferred.āÆĀ
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Ā
- Meets or exceeds performance standards forĀ minimumĀ of two years at PT Level I at SEMC or the equivalent.Ā
Meets basic competencyĀ levelĀ of two clinical rotations.Ā

Compensation Range:
$75,500.00- $109,500.00This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer.
