Job Summary
Practice Assistant II – Lung CenterDepartment: Department of Medicine – Lung Center
Schedule: Monday–Friday, normal business hours, onsite
Compensation: Starting at $20.00 per hour, with increases based on relevant experience

Make a meaningful impact as a Practice Assistant II in the Lung Center. In this fast-paced, patient-focused role, you’ll help create a welcoming and efficient experience for patients while keeping daily practice operations running smoothly.
Working under general supervision, you’ll provide both administrative and patient-facing support, including scheduling, check-in and check-out, patient communication, and office coordination. Responsibilities may vary based on department needs.
What You’ll Do
• Schedule patient appointments, maintain records, and support advanced or surgical scheduling as needed.
• Welcome patients, assist with check-in and check-out, collect co-payments, and respond to routine questions.
• Manage calls, route messages, and coordinate requests involving prior authorizations, prescriptions, test results, and provider questions.
• Process billing forms, scan documents into EPIC, and request medical records and laboratory results.
• Distribute mail and faxes and prepare routine correspondence.
• Serve as an EPIC Super User for scheduling, registration, and billing systems; training is provided.
• Help train staff and support schedule management as needed.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience
- 2–3 years of office experience required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard office equipment.
- Knowledge of office operations and administrative procedures.
- Strong phone, customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to follow established processes and work effectively within a team.
