What is the opportunity?

RBC Capital Markets is the global investment banking arm of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). RBC Community Investments (www.rbccm.com/communityinvestments) is a leading national syndicator of tax credits, including

聽State and Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTCs), Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits (HRTCs), New Market Tax Credits (NMTCs) and Renewable Energy Tax Credits (RETCs).

The Renewables Energy Syndication Vice President of Portfolio Management will have primary responsibility as post-closing relationship support for all renewable energy tax credit transactions, new and existing. The RETC Syndications Vice President of Portfolio Management will work closely with the RETC Head of Transaction Execution, other Vice Presidents and Associates of Portfolio Management and the full RETC Syndications Team (Managing Directors, Directors, VPs, Associates and Analysts). Role supports the performance and monitoring of RETC syndicated funds, may provide input on investment structuring and pricing, manage KYC, support closing execution and hand-off between origination and sales, and give ongoing investor support post-closing of RBC鈥檚 investments in and syndication of renewable energy tax credit transactions.

What will you do?

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Lead or support diligence of investment opportunities by reviewing tax equity documents, attending site visits (as needed), and analyzing the detailed third party reports typically associated with investments of this type (insurance reports, independent engineering studies, appraisals).

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Lead or support management of transactions from the Closing Date through final-true up / stabilization.聽 Serves as a direct resource and point of contact, as assigned, with the Sponsor in each transaction until disposition.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Responsible for the deployment of equity pursuant to the partnership operating agreement requirements surrounding collection of all Conditions Precedent.聽 Will collect and review the funding requirements for accuracy and compliance with the documents.聽 Preparation of the Equity Request and circulation of the completed package for review and approval.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provide oversight of the transactions by analyzing performance data on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis, as applicable.聽 Provide technical assistance on project performance and managerial strategy to ensure the continuous flow of tax credit benefits and cash flow.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Develop and produce portfolio management reports by Investor and by Sponsor, as needed.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Expedite the receipt of financial and operational information for each transaction and/or Sponsor on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, as applicable. Identify data and information which implies a developing pattern of problems and elevate to management the need for further investigation. Prepare informative narrative reports on the installation鈥檚 performance, provide problem resolution and workout strategies.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Initiate communication with Sponsors to ensure timely submission of tax returns and audits each year by confirming the early engagement of CPA firm, tracking the status of progress and providing periodic reminder notices as necessary.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Communicate issues that may place a project at risk to appropriate leadership within the RBC platform, and, with the supervision of the Head of Transaction Execution, develop an action plan that will help mitigate the risk and protect the investment.聽 Recommend the implementation of strategies to resolve operational, financial, and compliance related difficulties within the portfolio.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Negotiation and input on financial modeling and disposition analysis at the end of the credit period or other dissolution event.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Proactively identify and escalate operational risk loss events / control deficiencies and risks to line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities.

What do you need to succeed?

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Basic Qualifications: Candidate must possess a Bachelor鈥檚 Degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Renewable energy project finance experience and excellent quantitative and analytical skills are essential, specific tax equity experience preferred.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Proficiency in MS-Office applications is required.

The expected salary range for this particular position is $150,000 - $175,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
