Disabled Facilities Grant Technical Officer (Housing) – 2 Month Contract


Location: Bracknell (RG12 1JD)
Rate: £35.68 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract Duration: 2 Months
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 to 3 days per week in the office, with additional attendance as required
Start Date: ASAP
Driving Requirement: Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle
DBS: Enhanced DBS Required
Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly

Summary


We are looking for a skilled Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) Technical Officer to become part of our dynamic Housing Adaptations Team. This role is crucial in assisting disabled and vulnerable individuals to maintain their independence at home. The position involves a variety of tasks, including conducting home visits, managing grant applications, performing technical assessments, coordinating with contractors, and overseeing project execution. You will collaborate with residents, Occupational Therapists, contractors, and internal teams to implement housing adaptations that enhance accessibility, safety, and overall quality of life.

Key Responsibilities


  • Oversee the entire process of Disabled Facilities Grant cases from initial referral to project completion.
  • Conduct home visits to assess feasibility and needs.
  • Guide residents through the grant application process and assist with necessary documentation.
  • Collaborate with Occupational Therapists to ensure appropriate adaptation solutions are provided.
  • Develop and evaluate work schedules, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Organize and conduct site inspections, including interim and final evaluations.
  • Coordinate with contractors to ensure work meets required standards.
  • Handle invoices, final accounts, and other grant-related paperwork.
  • Maintain precise records and manage case files efficiently.
  • Deliver a professional and customer-oriented service throughout the adaptation process.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) service or Housing Adaptations Team.
  • Background in supporting disabled and vulnerable individuals.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of DFG legislation and housing adaptation procedures.
  • Experience collaborating with Occupational Therapists, surveyors, contractors, and residents.
  • Ability to interpret plans, work schedules, and technical information.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in IT and maintaining accurate records.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Enhanced DBS Check.

Desirable


  • HHSRS qualification.
  • Qualifications in property, surveying, construction, or technical housing.
  • Experience working within a Local Authority.
  • Familiarity with housing adaptation legislation, planning, and building control processes.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software.
