Summary
- The SEND Service Lead is a pivotal role within a local authority, tasked with providing strategic and operational leadership for the Statutory SEND Service. This position ensures the effective delivery of Education, Health, and Care (EHC) statutory functions in accordance with the Children and Families Act 2014, the SEND Code of Practice, and other relevant legislation. The role is crucial for maintaining high standards in service delivery and compliance with statutory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership, management, and accountability for the operational delivery of the SEND Statutory Service.
- Oversee all statutory SEND functions, including EHC Needs Assessments, Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), Annual Reviews, and Phase Transfers.
- Lead, manage, support, and develop a team of SEND professionals and Senior SEND Officers.
- Ensure statutory duties are discharged effectively, efficiently, and within legislative timescales.
- Support performance management processes and address underperformance where required.
Requirements:
- Essential Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a comparable SEND leadership role within a Local Authority.
- Significant experience leading a statutory SEND service both operationally and strategically.
- Proven track record of managing Education, Health and Care assessment and review processes.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a comparable SEND leadership role within a Local Authority.
- Essential Qualifications Required:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification.
- Relevant leadership or management qualification, or equivalent experience.
- Evidence of continuing professional development in SEND, education, leadership, or public sector management.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 37 hours per week.
- DBS Required.
- The post requires attendance in the office for 1–2 days per week.
- We work on a bi-weekly schedule.
