About Oxylus Energy

Oxylus Energy is a climate-tech company building solutions that can scale. Our breakthrough electrochemical technology converts carbon dioxide into carbon-neutral fuels and chemicals, reducing the world's dependence on fossil fuels. We are a team of scientists, engineers, and problem solvers working to make that future real.

Job brief

As Electrochemist I – II – III / Electrochemical Engineer I – II – III, you will test the performance of membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) for our CO₂ electrolyzers across a range of operating conditions. You will build a deep understanding of the operating and scientific principles that govern the electrochemical performance of our reactors, and design and run experiments that improve them.

Day to day, you will set up and manage electrochemical tests, ensure they consistently produce high-quality data, analyze the results, and report findings to project stakeholders. You will play an increasingly  key role in experimental design.

What You Will Do

  • Perform electrochemical tests, then analyze and summarize the results. Common experiments include chronopotentiometry, EIS, accelerated stress testing, and cyclic voltammetry.

  • Investigate failure mechanisms in COâ‚‚ reduction systems.

  • Manage, troubleshoot, and maintain electrochemical test stations.

  • Use experimental data to guide future experimental plans.

  • Communicate the status of test hardware and any issues that arise during experiments.

  • Document procedures to build shared knowledge across the team.

  • Prepare presentations and data analyses for the wider technical team.

Who You Are

  • Academic background in chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, or materials science and engineering, with one of the following:

    • Electrochemist / Engineer I: B.S./B.A. or equivalent degree with some experience in electrochemistry.

    • Electrochemist / Engineer II: B.S. with 2-4 years, or M.S. with 0–2 years of relevant experience.

    • Electrochemist / Engineer III: B.S. with 4-6 years, or M.S. with 2–4 years, or Ph.D. 0-2 years of relevant experience

  • Hands-on electrochemistry experience in an academic or industrial setting, including chronopotentiometry, EIS, accelerated stress testing, and/or linear/cyclic/square-wave voltammetry tests.

  • Highly attentive to detail, with strong organizational skills.

  • Good written, verbal, and presentation skills.

  • Able to lift up to 20 lb while assembling larger-format cells.

Salary

  • Electrochemist I / Electrochemical Eng I: $ 75,000–90,000  (USD) per year base salary, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.

  • Electrochemist II / Electrochemical Eng II: $ 90,000–100,000  (USD) per year base salary, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.

  • Electrochemist III / Electrochemical Eng III: $ 100,000–110,000  (USD) per year base salary, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.

 Benefits

  • Competitive salary.
