In this role, you operate CNC equipment to support efficient and precise production of aerospace components. You ensure machines, tooling, and programs are prepared, coordinate with programmers and leadership on workflow, and maintain high standards of quality, safety, and process discipline. Your work directly supports product conformity and contributes to the performance and reliability of mission‑critical hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains AS9100 procedures and supports continuous improvement activities.
  • Operates CNC equipment and prepares material, tooling, cutters, and programs to support efficient machining.
  • Keeps the CNC machine and fixtures clean and ensures general maintenance is up to date.
  • Maintains an organized work environment to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Coordinates machine scheduling with management to meet production priorities.
  • Works with NC programmers to reduce setup time and improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Orders cutters and tooling as required to support machining operations.
  • Reports recommendations or concerns that may affect quality or time management.
  • Understands how machining‑related failures impact customer products and overall quality.
  • Performs other duties as required to support production flow.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience operating CNC equipment, including Siemens 840D and Fanuc 31i‑B5 controls.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints accurately.
  • Thorough understanding of machine setups, tooling, cutters, and machining practices.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of management.
  • Ability to follow the quality management system (QMS), including reporting, record‑keeping, and compliance with customer requirements.
  • Training on applicable changes and customer requirements.
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Adequate years of CNC operating experience as determined by Karman.

Physical Requirements

  • Constant standing, walking, and sitting for at least 8 hours.
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 50 lbs, minimum 35 lbs.
  • Hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate tools and equipment.
  • Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less; corrective lenses may be worn.
  • Prolonged periods of repetitive movement.
  • Constant holding, grasping, turning, or working with the hands.
  • Occasional reaching overhead, at shoulder level, and below shoulder level.
  • The essential functions of this position must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

This position operates in a warehouse, shop, or manufacturing environment.
