Power Equipment Company is seeking an experienced Parts Manager to lead our Parts Department in Brighton, Colorado.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands that a successful parts operation is about more than having the right inventory on the shelf. It requires strong people leadership, disciplined inventory and financial management, excellent customer service, effective supplier relationships, and consistent operational execution.
The Parts Manager will lead the day-to-day operation of the department while driving sales, profitability, inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement. This position works closely with Service, Sales, Procurement, Accounting, customers, suppliers, manufacturers, and branch leadership to support customer needs and overall business performance.
What You'll Do
Lead the Business
- Manage the operational and financial performance of the Parts Department, including sales, gross profit, expenses, inventory investment, inventory turnover, freight costs, pricing, discounts, and obsolete or excess inventory.
- Develop and monitor annual departmental goals and budget and take action when performance is off track.
- Use financial and operational reporting to identify opportunities and make sound business decisions.
- Ensure purchasing, receiving, inventory, sales orders, shipments, transfers, and other key activities are accurately completed and properly controlled.
Own Inventory & Parts Operations
- Maintain disciplined inventory practices that support parts availability, accuracy, appropriate stocking levels, cost control, and customer service.
- Monitor demand, cycle counts, physical inventories, backorders, slow-moving inventory, and obsolete stock.
- Oversee purchasing and supplier performance to support competitive costs, inventory objectives, and customer commitments.
- Ensure the parts counter, stockroom, and warehouse remain safe, organized, and efficient.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and drive continuous improvement throughout the department.
Deliver an Exceptional Customer Experience
- Build strong customer relationships through responsive, professional, and transparent communication.
- Ensure customers receive accurate parts information, pricing, quotes, availability, and order updates.
- Lead the resolution of escalated customer concerns, order discrepancies, and delivery issues.
- Identify opportunities to grow parts sales, aftermarket revenue, and customer retention while maintaining pricing discipline and service standards.
Lead & Develop the Team
- Lead, manage, coach, and develop Parts Department employees.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, development, and performance management.
- Set clear expectations and provide ongoing feedback focused on productivity, accuracy, customer service, safety, sales, and accountability.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, safety, customer service, and continuous improvement.
- Identify development opportunities that strengthen employees' product knowledge, operational capabilities, and leadership skills.
Partner Across the Business
- Work closely with Service, Sales, Procurement, Accounting, Product Support Representatives, field personnel, and branch leadership.
- Maintain productive relationships with manufacturers and suppliers related to pricing, availability, delivery, training, and parts programs.
- Contribute to management discussions, business planning, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
What You'll Bring
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 7+ years of parts experience, including inventory control, purchasing, customer service, and parts operations.
- Experience leading and developing employees and managing operational priorities.
- Experience managing customer, supplier, or manufacturer relationships and resolving parts-related issues.
- Strong understanding of parts operations, inventory management, purchasing, warehouse operations, order fulfillment, pricing, margin management, and customer service.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and customer-service skills.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to understand and manage financial and operational performance.
- Ability to analyze operational and financial information and turn it into sound business decisions.
- Ability to manage competing priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ERP/business-management systems, and applicable mobile technology.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet applicable company driving requirements when driving is required.
Preferred
- Parts experience in heavy equipment, construction, aggregate, mining, industrial equipment, trucking, automotive, or a related industry.
- Experience working with equipment manufacturers and dealer or distributor parts programs.
- Experience with cycle counting, physical inventory, 5S, standard work, and continuous-improvement practices.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
Work Environment
This position is full-time and on-site in Brighton, Colorado. The work environment may include moving equipment, material-handling activity, dust, temperature variations, and moderate noise. Appropriate PPE is required when applicable. The role may occasionally require lifting or moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
