Job Description:

VIA is seeking a per diem Job Coach. This position is primarily responsible for providing guidance, support, and feedback to individuals who are blind/visually impaired at their training/work sites and to objectively document performance. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Coach, teach, monitor and provide support to individual at their work site
  • Provide individualized training to assist in the mastering of their assigned job duties
  • Identify and communicate potential barriers to the success of the individual
  • Provide guidance in learning to integrate with other employees and the work environment
  • Assist in developing and enhancing communication with other employees and supervisor(s)
  • Assist in developing necessary soft skills to be successful in the workplace
  • Provide detailed and objective documentation of performance, establish short-term goals for improvement, monitor progress and provide regular feedback in accordance with established department/agency guidelines
  • Celebrate successes and identify areas for growth in order to be successful in the workplace
  • Communicate regularly with VIA staff

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Previous successful work experience required
  • NYS drivers license and reliable transportation OR the ability to travel effectively to assigned geographic locations
  • Experience working with people who are blind/visually impaired preferred but not required
