We’re looking for dependable, team-oriented individuals who enjoy preparing great food and want their work to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents.Department: DietaryWork Area: KitchenReports To: CDM / Dietary SupervisorAbout the RoleOur Cooks are responsible for preparing and providing safe, high-quality food service to residents in an efficient and cost-effective manner while meeting federal, state, local, and facility requirements.You’ll prepare meals according to established menus, standardized recipes, production schedules, and individual resident dietary needs — helping ensure every meal is both appetizing and prepared with care.What You’ll Do Prepare and cook meats, vegetables, cereals, starches, and other menu items Follow standardized recipes and production sheets to ensure proper quantities and consistency Prepare meals for therapeutic and modified diets according to resident-specific restrictions Monitor food for proper preparation, seasoning, appearance, and quality Portion, plate, garnish, and serve meals according to menus and diet orders Assist with meal tray setup and steam-table preparation Prepare food items in advance for upcoming meals as directed Distribute meals to resident neighborhoods and dining areas Maintain safe food-handling and sanitation practices Clean and sanitize kitchen work areas, equipment, and floors Properly store and handle food and supplies Work closely with Dietary Aides and other team members to ensure smooth meal service Help oversee kitchen and food service operations in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor Perform other dietary duties as assigned Schedule 1st and 2nd shift opportunities 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM 12:30 PM – 8:30 PM Alternating weekdays and weekends Hours may range from 0–80 hours per pay period, based on position status, scheduling needs, and business demands What We’re Looking For Previous cooking or food service experience preferred Long-term care or healthcare food service experience is a plus, but not required Dependable with strong attention to detail Ability to follow recipes, menus, production sheets, and resident diet requirements Commitment to excellent food quality, sanitation, and resident service Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen Food Safety & Professional StandardsBecause we serve a healthcare population, all team members are expected to maintain excellent personal hygiene and follow department food-safety requirements.
