The Nutrition Care Representative (NCR) is a ā€œpoint personā€ for food service issues affecting patients, other nutrition services staff and nursing service staff. The NCR is responsible forassistingpatients with menu selection and ensuring that patients receive meals and nourishments in accordance with diet prescriptions and individual preferences.Ā Ā 

Duties include:Ā 

  • Ā Screening patients for nutritional risk.Ā 

  • Taking patient food orders over the phone and entering them into our computer system.Ā 

  • Updating patient informationinto our ordering systemasrequired.Ā 

  • Correcting menu choices under supervision and alerting the supervisor and clinical nutrition staff to any patient issues.Ā Ā 

  • Visiting patient rooms to assist with ordering meals.Ā 

  • Other duties may include serving patient trays and nourishments.Ā

EDUCATION:Ā 

High School diploma or equivalent preferred, minimum 18 years of age.Ā 

Ā 

EXPERIENCE:Ā 

Minimum of one year experience in a patient care environment. College course work in clinical nutrition or nutrition therapy may be substituted for work experience.Ā 

Ā 

Knowledge/Special Skills: Ability to read, speak, write and understand English. Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to follow basic oral and written instructions. Meets the physical demands of the job. Employees must have cash handling and money counting skills. Must be dependable – no excessive absenteeism/tardiness - per department policy. Understands and follows safety and sanitation procedures.Ā
