Patient Care Associate (PCA) – Postpartum Unit
 

Location

Mount Auburn Hospital
 

Schedule

24 hours/week

• 12-hour rotating day/night shifts

• Self-scheduling model

• Every third or every other weekend, based on department needs

• Additional shifts may be available
   

About the Role
 

Join a collaborative postpartum team where you'll work alongside nurses to provide compassionate care for new mothers and newborns. As a Patient Care Associate (PCA), you'll play an important role in supporting patients, assisting the nursing team, and helping the unit run smoothly.

What You'll Do

• Obtain and document patient vital signs

• Assist patients with mobility and activities of daily living

• Perform EKGs, blood draws, glucometer testing, and specimen collection after training

• Support admissions, transfers, and discharges

• Assist with newborn baths as appropriate

• Restock supplies, including infant and postpartum care items

• Prepare patient rooms and maintain a clean, safe environment

• Respond to patient needs and communicate changes to the nursing team

• Support emergency situations by assisting with hemorrhage carts and obtaining blood products when needed

• Collaborate closely with nurses and the interdisciplinary care team

Minimum Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent

• Previous clerical experience (preferably in a healthcare setting). Medical terminology is preferred.

• Ability to read and write at level 8, as documented on "Invest," the hospital's Employee Learning Laboratory software.

• An ability to set appropriate priorities and organize workflow.

• An ability to concentrate and pay attention to detail during frequent interruptions.

• Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to interface with support and professional staff and patients.
   

Work Environment

This position is based in a busy hospital setting and requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, and assisting patients while following all hospital safety, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements.

Pay Range:

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
