Job Summary:
Responsible for commodity grading equipment and maintaining constant flow of products by truck. The Scale Operator must work regularly with other departments and be efficient under pressure while carrying out onsite tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Weigh incoming and outgoing loads of products and commodities.
- Perform grain sampling procedures and operate product testing equipment, sample machines, and computer software.
- Ensure documented test results and required documentation are recorded accurately.
- Responsible for assuring all sampling and testing equipment is in good working order.
- Troubleshoot and monitor equipment and computer software when needed.
- Communicate frequently with customers, drivers, and facility personnel.
- Provide a “Customer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production, and achieving quality standards.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe workstation/environment at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- There are no supervisory responsibilities in this position.
Education and Experience:
- Education: High School or Equivalent, preferred
- Experience: In depth knowledge of quality control or commodity grading experience, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of grain receiving, scale operations, and quality testing practices.
- Proficient in operations of distributed control systems and quality assurance equipment.
- Excellent written communications skills and thorough detail in documentation completion.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use basic mathematics,
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and senior level management.
- Ability to maintain good attendance habits.
- Abide by all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description.
- Abide by the company’s safety, quality, and environmental, and HR policies at all times.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Frequently required to stand and sit for long periods of time.
- May be confined to a specific area.
- Operate in an office and production environment.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel to lift objects of 50 pounds or more.
- Ability to use stairs and ladders.
- Ability to carry out tasks in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks at once.
