Reports To: Guest Experience Manager

Department: Programming

Job Type: Part-time, seasonal; 1 to 5 classes per week.

Pay Rate: $45-$75 per class (1-hr. class), based on experience and qualifications

The class rate compensates for all working time associated with teaching classes, including time spent in class as well as all pre- and post-class responsibilities.

                             

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking energetic, reliable and passionate fitness instructors to lead engaging group classes for hotel guests in both indoor and outdoor settings at properties in Cape May, NJ.

  • Core & Mobility

  • Bike Tours
  • Beach Walk or Run Club

Additional class formats and creative fitness concepts are welcome. 

 

Classes may take place on the lawn, beach, pool, or casual indoor spaces.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design, lead and actively participate in effective, engaging, and motivating fitness classes.

 

  • Clearly demonstrate exercises and provide corrections and modifications to meet various fitness levels.

 

  • Oversee set up and break down of classes - arriving at a minimum of 15 minutes prior to class start time for proper set up (set up time may vary depending on complexity of set up required) and ensuring all equipment is properly cleaned, returned and stored after class.
  • Manage class attendance, including guest sign-in and/or reservations.

 

  • Act as a host and representative of the Guest Experience Team, guiding guests through fitness and wellness programs while upholding the high standard of service Cape Resorts is known for.

 

  • Manage and schedule private training sessions with guests upon request.

 

  • Resolve guest issues or concerns promptly to ensure a positive guest experience.
  • Coordinate with the Guest Experience Manager to secure a qualified substitute instructor when unable to teach a scheduled class.

 

  • Represent Cape Resorts in a positive light by consistently demonstrating enthusiasm, professionalism, and alignment with company values

Qualifications:

  • Relevant academic and/or professional credentials appropriate to the class format taught and/or personal training or group fitness certification. 
  • Current CPR/AED certification and basic First Aid knowledge required prior to teaching.
  • 1–3 years’ experience leading group fitness or wellness classes preferred.
  • Basic activity planning and execution experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of Cape May and the Cape Resorts properties a plus.

  • Comfortable leading groups, and engaging participants as a confident public speaker.
  • Knowledge of current fitness and wellness trends. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Friendly, professional communication skills when interacting with guests
  • Availability for non-traditional hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to perform an aerobic activity for the duration of a class, which may include standing, walking, climbing, balancing, running, crawling, and kneeling.
  • Reliable Transportation required.
