Student Worker - Chemistry Lab Assistant

The Chemistry Lab Assistant will assist JALC faculty in preparing and maintaining the lab.

Education & Experience Requirements

Education required:

• Must be an enrolled JALC student, with a minimum of 6 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters
• Must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
• Must have a high school diploma
• Must have a FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid office
• Have satisfactorily completed the first year of college chemistry, including CHM 151 and/or CHM 152 at JALC
• Show a good understanding of the principles and procedures involved in the CHM 151/152 laboratory experiments
  
  

Other requirements:

• Be aware of the importance of safety as related to laboratory management
• Have exhibited an ability to do independent work responsibly and in a timely fashion

Essential Functions & Position Duties

• Prepare and maintain reagents, equipment, and supplies associated with the labs
• Prepare each laboratory experiment set-up and take-down
• Maintain the orderliness and cleanliness of the lab and lab preparation area
• Maintain chemical hazard documentation and assist the safety officer in enforcing safety in the lab

Non-Essential Functions of the Position

Other duties as assigned. Duties must be performed on the John A. Logan College campus or designated location.
