POSITION SUMMARY
 
Maintains a safe and secure environment for our guests, Team Members, and protects Company assets. Exhibits a strong sense of responsibility, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle challenging situations. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 
 
The following statements are intended as an overview of key responsibilities of the work for this position and are not all inclusive:
 

  1. Provides next-level guest service to internal and external guests. Demonstrates the Cedar Crossing culture in all interactions with guests and co-workers.
  2. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information in accordance with established procedures with company policy and state regulations. 
  3. Ensures compliance with all department and company policies, procedures, internal controls, and government regulations. 
  4. Responsible for creating and fostering an environment of support and motivation for Team Members. 
  5. Maintains a constant presence throughout the casino premises to deter and detect potential security threats, including theft, fraud, disturbances, and unauthorized access. 
  6. Responds promptly and professionally to customer service requests, always maintaining a courteous demeanor. 
  7. Takes immediate and appropriate action in emergency situations, such as medical incidents, fire alarms, or other safety threats, following established protocols and procedures. 
  8. Coordinates with emergency personnel, law enforcement, and other relevant parties as needed. 
  9. Accurately documents security incidents, accidents, and observations, preparing detailed reports for management and future reference. 
  10. Maintains accurate records of shift activities, incidents, and other relevant information.
  11. Adheres to all aspects of the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Program and its regulations; including, but not limited to, Suspicious Activity Reporting and Customer Identification requirements. 
  12. Monitors access points to ensure only authorized personnel and guests enter designated areas. 
  13. Verifies identification of individuals, such as employees, visitors, and vendors, in accordance with casino policies. 
  14. Safeguards casino assets, including cash, chips, and equipment, by implementing security measures and protocols. 
  15. Assists with the escorting of high-value transactions and movements within the casino. 
  16. Ensures orderly and safe conduct of guests and visitors. 
  17. Participates in ongoing training programs to stay current on security procedures, emergency response protocols, and casino policies. 
  18. Maintains a strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations related to casino security operations. 
  19. Resolves problems that are within the position's scope of authority and recommends courses of action to resolve problems that are beyond the scope of authority to the position’s supervisor.
  20. Keeps position supervisor informed of relevant activities. 
  21. Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED; additional education or training in security or law enforcement is a plus. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Excellent customer service skills required. Previous experience in security roles, in casino or hospitality industry preferred. Strong understanding of security practices, emergency response procedures, and guest service principles preferred. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with diverse individuals and diffuse potentially volatile situations. Certification in CPR, First Aid, or other relevant emergency response training is beneficial.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, demonstrating professionalism and integrity.


REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
 
In addition to the other duties described herein, every Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:


  • Attend required training sessions offered by the casino.
  • Obtain and maintain required license(s).
  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
  • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the team member’s department.
  • Have knowledge of the Property’s programs to address problem gambling.
  • Consult with the appropriate individuals and maintain an effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with gaming regulations and Internal Controls.
  • Take the appropriate steps to investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report such instances to the appropriate levels of management.
  • Report any acts of wrongdoing on behalf of any Team Member of which they have knowledge.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must have ability to:

  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Move around all work areas effectively and efficiently.
  • Work long hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Sit or stand for extended amounts of time.
  • Ability to work in an environment exposed to secondhand smoke, moderate to loud noise levels and varied light levels including flashing lights.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: 

Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission License

Valid driver’s license with a minimum of three (3) years driving experience.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory responsibilities.
