POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the efficient operation of the Security Department shift assigned.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 
 
The following statements are intended as an overview of key responsibilities of the work for this position and are not all inclusive:
 

  1. Provides next-level guest service to internal and external guests. Demonstrates the Cedar Crossing culture in all interactions with guests and co-workers.
  2. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information in accordance with established procedures with company policy and state regulations. 
  3. Ensures compliance with all department and company policies, procedures, internal controls, and government regulations. 
  4. Responsible for creating and fostering an environment of support and motivation for Team Members. 
  5. Provides next-level guest service to internal and external guests. Demonstrates #PositiveLife culture in all interactions with guests and co-workers. 
  6. Assists in hiring motivating, training, coaching, mentors, and directing staff to ensure that Team Members receive leadership, guidance, and resources to accomplish established objectives. 
  7. Responsible for creating and fostering an environment of support and motivation for Team Members. 
  8. Assists with the establishment of department standards, guidelines and objectives, and maintains other administrative processes such as budget and staffing to ensure proper planning and efficient operation of assigned areas. 
  9. Responsible for the loss prevention functions of the complex, including company assets on the casino floor, customer and employee security and safety on their shift. 
  10. Assists with the training, selecting, and developing of staff, scheduling and directing. 
  11. Ensures all applicable laws, rules and regulations of the company are firmly and fairly enforced. 
  12. Responsible for all investigations or supervision of all investigations performed by subordinates assigned to the Security Department. 
  13. Implements systems to ensure compliance with federal, state and company rules and regulations. 
  14. Identifies and controls risks and threats to the safety and assets of the company patrons and employees. 
  15. Responsible for the detention of persons for probable cause for the purpose of notifying law enforcement and/or state gaming officials. 
  16. Controls and maintains company-wide key controls throughout the property while on duty. 
  17. Directs Security personnel to specific assigned duties and/or special assignments as needed.
  18. Resolves problems that are within the position's scope of authority and recommends courses of action to resolve problems that are beyond the scope of authority to the position’s supervisor. 
  19. Manages subordinates who may supervise employees. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit(s). 
  20. Keeps position supervisor informed of relevant activities. 
  21. Reviews the work activities of subordinate employees to ensure that work is being performed within the standards established by management.
  22. Resolves problems that are within the position's scope of authority and recommends courses of action to resolve problems that are beyond the scope of authority to the position’s supervisor.
  23. Keeps position supervisor informed of relevant activities. 
  24. Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
 
Associate’s degree preferred and at least three (3) years supervisory or above experience in a high-volume complex casino, hotel or public arena environment. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Must have excellent PC, planning and organizational, communication and delegation skills. Must be able to formulate and communicate ideas and to make independent decisions.

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of Team Members, guests and outside contacts.



REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
 
In addition to the other duties described herein, every Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:


  • Attend required training sessions offered by the casino.
  • Obtain and maintain required license(s).
  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
  • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the team member’s department.
  • Have knowledge of the Property’s programs to address problem gambling.
  • Consult with the appropriate individuals and maintain an effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with gaming regulations and Internal Controls.
  • Take the appropriate steps to investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report such instances to the appropriate levels of management.
  • Report any acts of wrongdoing on behalf of any Team Member of which they have knowledge.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must have ability to:

  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Move around all work areas effectively and efficiently.
  • Work long hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Sit or stand for extended amounts of time.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: 

Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission License

Valid driver’s license with a minimum of three (3) years driving experience.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May manage subordinates who may supervise Team Members. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit(s).
