Job Description:

In this role, you will perform dock and related operations at the Charleston Maritime Center. 

 Examples of Duties:

  • Assists with supervising the daily dock operations at the Charleston Maritime Center.
  • Provides detailed information regarding services, policies and procedures to tenants and patrons.
  • Performs all aspects of customer service for marina patrons and tenants, including dockage, fueling and accommodations.
  • Performs proper physical maintenance and upkeep of the facility. Assists with the preparation for all special events held at the facility.
  • Secures boat to dock with mooring lines.
  • Connects utility lines (telephone, power, and water) to boat.
  • Operates motor vehicle to transport patrons and baggage to and from dockside.
  • Reports any major disturbances in dock area to superior.
  • Pumps blackwater from boats.
  • Delivers ice and written messages to patrons.
  • Polices dock area.
  • May serve as overall supervisor of dock operations in the absence of the Dock Supervisor or Operations Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1 year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.

 Other Necessary Requirements:

  • May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
  • In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
