Job Overview

 

We are currently seeking skilled Press Helpers to join our team on both 1st and 2nd shift.  The Press Helper is responsible for assisting press operators with daily tasks and operations to include the set-up, changeover, and clean-up of the press in accordance with safety, quality, and efficiency standards and customer requirements. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Examine job orders to determine details and verify materials and equipment needed for jobs.
  • Gather materials and equipment needed for each job and ensure job carts are prepared before orders are placed on the press
  • Assist press operator to conduct efficient setup and changeovers to include mounting plates and loading ink. 
  • Maintain adequate quantities of press supplies at presses.    
  • Cleans ink chambers and ancillary equipment.  Assists in the performance of all clean-up activities following changeover.
  • Perform routine material handling duties utilizing carts and pallet jacks to include returning components used in the printing process to their identified location. 
  • Keep the press running while press operator steps away for lunch, breaks, etc.
  • Examine labels to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • Complete reports and other documentation as needed for quality and productivity standards. Communicate any deviations with press operator or operations manager.
  • Work as a team to ensure production schedule is followed and quality checks are completed on a regular basis. 
  • Follow safety policies and procedures, comply with cGMP standards, and maintain a clean work environment. 
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures. 
  • Responsible for working overtime when needed and as assigned. 

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.  Prior experience in a manufacturing or printing environment is a plus, but not required.

 

Knowledge/Skills

  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay focused and follow instructions. 
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to work well as part of a team to ensure production goals are met. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and job jackets. 

 Physical Demands

  • Requires standing, using hands to feel and touch; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear. This position requires frequent walking. Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements are close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions/Environment

While performing the duties of this job, will work near moving mechanical parts; and is exposed to non-hazardous ink vapors.  Safety shoes are required in this position.  Safety glasses are required when pouring inks or using cleaners. Mandatory use of hearing protection is required while in the production environment.
