Position Summary: 

The Account Manager is the primary owner of the customer relationship and is responsible for both the execution and growth of assigned accounts. This role goes beyond maintaining existing business and focuses on identifying opportunities to expand customer partnerships through new lanes, locations, and modes of transportation. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and relationship owner for assigned customer accounts 
  • Manage end-to-end execution of customer freight from tender through delivery
  • Handle pricing for spot freight and participate in RFPs and customer pricing reviews 
  • Communicate proactively with customers regarding shipment status, service issues, and resolutions 
  • Identify opportunities to grow accounts through new lanes, locations, volume, or modes 
  • Monitor account performance and service metrics to support customer satisfaction and retention 

 Competencies: 

  • Strong relationship-building and customer management skills
  • Ability to identify growth opportunities within existing accounts 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment 
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail 
  • Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office applications  

Education/Experience: 

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • Prior experience in customer service, logistics, account management, or freight brokerage preferred
