The purpose of this job is to monitor student behavior and assist students to ensure safety during transport on the school bus.
Responsibilities
- Assist students with entering or exiting the bus in a safe manner.
- Seat students safely.
- Serve as a role model for students in demonstrating a positive attitude, good moral character, and integrity.
- Monitor passengers at all times to ensure safety regulations and student conduct rules are followed.
- Document and report any violations or conduct concerns to appropriate authority.
- Physically assist students in evacuation of the bus in case of emergency.
- Ensure that children take their belongings with them when leaving the bus.
- Assist Driver in keeping the interior of the assigned bus clean and presentable.
- Complete all required paperwork and submit to the appropriate employee/department in a timely manner.
- Present a neat and professional appearance at all times.
- Attend all assigned training.
- Acts in a professional, respectful, and welcoming manner at all times.
- Creates a customer-focused climate and provides quality services and support to school and other stakeholders.
- Complies with applicable district, state, and federal codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
- Creates a respectful, positive, and pleasant environment on the school bus.
- Reinforces procedures and practices that result in efficient entry and exit of students on the bus.
- Assists students as needed.Â
- Uses positive strategies to redirect inappropriate student behavior.
- Works collaboratively with administration, principals, secretaries, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Attends work and arrives to work on time.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge/Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED). Experience working with school-age students is preferred.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Demonstrates excellent verbal communication skills to deal effectively with students, parents, and school staff. Also has the ability to read and write effectively.
Compensation:
- $15 per hour
