General Purpose:Ā The purpose of the Academic Dean is to manage all aspects of campus academic operations.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities Ā Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā 

• Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Determine optimum faculty staffing model for the campus; recruit, hire, train and evaluate faculty in cooperation with Program Managers and the Director of Academics

• Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Serves our program generalist to resolve staffing issues and provide instructional advice to staff.

• Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Train and orient new faculty in overall expectations and campus procedures; ensure new faculty meet with Program Managers or Program Leads for program-specific training.

• Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Implements strategies and collaborative efforts to increase student retention and program completion rates, maintain high academic standards, and ensure continuous improvement.

• Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Ensure faculty is teaching according to the prescribed curriculum and outlined structureĀ 

• Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Conduct faculty meetings

• Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Provide campus leadership and direction

• Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Enforce faculty reporting procedures for attendance, grades, academic probation, at-risk students, etc.

• Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Perform various regular reports including daily attendance rates, staffing, pass/fail rates, retention, etc.

• Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Collaborate and communicate regularly with Program Managers, Program Leads, Student Services, and other Academic Deans to ensure consistent quality delivery of programs and services.

• Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Respond, investigate and take appropriate action regarding student or staff complaints or concerns.

• Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Actively contribute to program improvement through participation in CSI’s Academic Priority Committee, Curriculum Enhancement Committee, and Specialty Sub CommitteeĀ 

• Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Deliver feedback and input from faculty and students regarding curriculum and instructional materials to the Director of Academics, Academic Priority Committee

• Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Monitor the Academic Department budget

• Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Supervisory:Ā Directly supervises academic staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ā  Ā Ā 

Education and/or Experience: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree, with preference to a Master’s degree in education, teaching, curriculum & instruction, educational leadership, or related field. At least two years of relevant work experience in the education setting is required. Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience required, preferably in an academic setting. Ā 

Language Skills:Ā Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ā Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ā Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills Ā Ā  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ā Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Skills:Ā Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ā Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ā Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
