The Role

To evaluate and underwrite Commercial Programs, written on a surplus-lines basis via MGA partnerships on behalf of Canopius US Insurance (CUSI), in accordance with the approved business plan and defined personal authority limits.

Responsibilities

Review individual submissions to MGA’s for policies that fall outside of their assigned authority levels.
Comply with company policies and risk appetite.
Adhere to Underwriting guidelines and contract terms such as risk limits, rates, and aggregate limits.
Conduct monthly and annual audits.
Further develop company relationships with assigned MGAs.

Skills and Experience

3-7 years of commercial underwriting experience.
General knowledge in Commercial Property/Liability/Auto/IM/MTC/Excess/Package Underwriting in one or more of the following classes: Mercantile, Hospitality, Habitational, Transportation, Manufacturing, Wholesale and Cannabis; preferably a generalist.
Individual desk underwriting / quoting experience.
Interpret written guidelines for Underwriting rules and apply to real life scenarios
Communication skills.
Ability to work and learn with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.
Have accountability for assigned tasks.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Decision maker.
Ability to adapt and change.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000
