Collins is offering an opportunity for a civil engineering student to gain experience doing structural design and inspections. Our Chicago, IL office has an opening for a Structural Engineering Internship position for Summer 2027. This position will be a combination of office and time in the field. You will be able to get hands-on experience collaborating on bridge inspections, bridge design and load rating, and working on other various tasks with our seasoned engineers. Assists Engineer with research, development and design of projects. Assists Engineer with the preparation of engineering drawings and documents as assigned. Assists inspection team leaders with the preparation of inspection reports and supporting field work as assigned. QualificationsWhat are we looking for: Junior or senior working towards a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university. Previous software experience in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Blue Beam, or Civil 3D is a plus. Previous software experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe PDF or other PDF editing software is a plus.  A valid driver's license is a plus.   Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
