Job Overview


Safe From the Start is a comprehensive, evidence-based program providing specialized 聽聽support and therapy for children ages 0-5 who have been exposed to violence. 聽Safe From the Start addresses the immediate and long-term effects of trauma 聽聽on young children while supporting families and communities in creating safe, 聽nurturing environments.聽

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


路 Responsible for developing the Safe from the Start Coalition and community meetings.

路 Establish primary referral sources for SFS 聽聽services including local law enforcement, healthcare providers, child welfare 聽聽agencies, victim services, schools, and community organizations.

路 Build community relationships; manage day-to-day activities and responsibilities; perform ongoing outreach to engage participation in the SFS program;

路 Ensure program requirements for therapeutic screening, assessment and intervention for children ages 0-5, and their families, who have been exposed to violence or experienced trauma.

路 Ensure completion of intake and comprehensive mental health assessments (IM+CANS) to identify client strengths, needs and to inform service planning.

路 Ensure the delivery and provision of individual, family, and/or group counseling modalities.

路 Provide supportive services including information/referral services and linkage support.

路 Responsible for documenting services, data entry and data collection according to agency and funder requirements, prepare monthly and quarterly reports.

Meet with Director to discuss program and client referrals, linkages with community partners and service providers, and coalition efforts;聽

Assist in development of tools and procedures to evaluate feedback from participants, and participate in the funder鈥檚 evaluation of the project鈥檚 activities.

Support program development, quality improvement, public awareness, education programming, and community-based trainings.

路 Facilitate program and team meetings, completion of required trainings, achieve program deliverables, and budget tracking.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: 聽
Bachelor鈥檚 Degree 聽聽聽聽

Obtaining 聽聽40-hour Domestic Violence Certification and completing Human Trafficking 聽聽training will be a requirement for this position.聽

Experience:
Community 聽聽based experience conducting outreach, community building, and resource development. Experience working in a social service setting with children and 聽聽families who have experienced violence. 聽聽聽

Other: 聽Bilingual 聽English/Spanish highly preferred

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Ability to work varying hours Monday - Friday, Schedule may include some evenings and weekends.聽
  • Must have a valid driver鈥檚 license and automobile insurance required for work related travel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to frequently move inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.聽
  • Must be able to transport oneself to and from home visits.
  • Occasionally ascends/descends stairs.
  • Constantly moves to assist during program activities.
  • At times it may be required to lift up to 25 lbs. for various needs.聽
  • Frequently moves in outdoor weather conditions聽
