About this role:
Lapping is the precision finishing step that decides whether critical components meet the tolerances Bravo's warhead systems demand. As a Lapping Technician you will operate lapping equipment to bring components to specification, working under the Lapping Lead as the function scales with the production line. The work rewards patience, a steady hand with measurement tools, and the discipline to follow a written procedure exactly, every part, every shift.

What success looks like in this role:
DAY 30 Trained and independently operating your assigned lapping equipment to specification under normal supervision.
DAY 60 Running a full shift's queue independently and consistently meeting tolerance and surface finish targets.
DAY 90 Cross-trained on additional part families or equipment, and contributing quality and process feedback to the Lapping Lead.
What you'll do:
Operate lapping equipment to bring components to specified tolerance and surface finish requirements. Inspect finished parts against specification using precision measurement tools, flagging discrepancies immediately rather than passing them down the line. Follow written work instructions and safety procedures exactly, and say so when a procedure does not match what the part is doing. Perform routine equipment maintenance and manage slurry, plates, and other consumables. Track production quantities and quality results against shift targets, with records clean enough to support lot traceability. Support the Lapping Lead on process improvement and on the written documentation the cell runs on.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical or vocational training in machining or precision manufacturing is a plus.
- Experience operating precision manufacturing equipment, or strong mechanical aptitude and the willingness to be trained from the ground up.
- Comfortable using precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Able to follow detailed written procedures exactly, and to stop and escalate when something is out of tolerance.
- Must be a U.S. person as defined by ITAR (22 CFR 120.62), or otherwise eligible under an applicable export authorization.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in lapping, grinding, honing, or another precision finishing process.
- Experience in a regulated, high-hazard, or defense manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with reading engineering drawings and basic GD&T.
- Military experience in a maintenance, machinist, ordnance, or other hands-on technical rating.
