Job Summary

Langan is seeking anĀ Environmental Permitting & Compliance Engineer or ScientistĀ to join its collaborative team inĀ Cleveland, Ohio.Ā This individual will serve a key function in supporting compliance projects anticipated to involve air permitting, industrial wastewater and stormwater permitting and planning, storage tank registrations, compliance evaluations, waste management, multi-media environmental compliance audits, development of spill prevention and contingency plans, greenhouse gas emission estimates and reporting, waste minimization planning and reporting, and technical report writing.Ā Ā 

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and support multi-media environmental permitting and compliance programs across air, water, wastewater, stormwater, waste, spill prevention, storage tanks, and EPCRA requirements;Ā 
  • Provide regulatory interpretation and strategy, permitting, and compliance support forĀ a wide variety of clients;Ā Ā 
  • Prepare andĀ submitĀ environmental permit applications, compliance reports, emissions inventories, and technical documentation to support regulatory obligations and operationalĀ objectives;Ā Ā 
  • Conduct environmental compliance audits, inspections, gap assessments, and program reviews to evaluate regulatory compliance andĀ identifyĀ improvement opportunities;Ā 
  • Develop and support implementation and management of various monitoring and spill prevention and contingency plans/programs (SPCC, FRP, SPR, SWPPP, Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans, TOMP, Slug Control, etc.);Ā 
  • Provide field support, site assessments, sampling, and technicalĀ assistanceĀ for ongoing client operations and environmental projects;Ā 
  • Provide support for air projects, focusing on emissions calculations,Ā permitĀ preparation, NESHAP/NSPS compliance, annual reporting (Title V, GHG, etc.), emissions monitoring, stationary and mobile source air modeling, and other air quality related tasks;Ā 
  • Provide regulatoryĀ strategy, permitting, and compliance support for water resources programs nationwide, including NPDES and general permits, drinking water compliance, surface water and groundwater withdrawal permitting, wastewater and pretreatment programs, and water reuse initiatives; andĀ Ā 
  • Perform other duties, fieldwork,Ā samplingĀ and special projects as assigned.Ā 

Qualifications

  • BS degree inĀ environmentalĀ scienceĀ or engineering, or closely related fieldĀ (Master’sĀ degree preferred);Ā 
  • 2 to 5 years of experience focused on regulatory compliance and environmental permitting; consulting experience preferred;Ā 
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification;Ā 
  • Working knowledge of MS Word,Ā ExcelĀ and other related software (Air Modeling Software, AERMOD, ProMax, a plus);Ā 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;Ā 
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;Ā 
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;Ā 
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends; andĀ 
  • Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.Ā
