Family Support Specialist – Expectant Moms

We are seeking a compassionate and organized Family Support Specialist to support expectant families and promote positive outcomes through our Early Head Start program.

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social work or related field
Prior experience preferred
Communicates clearly and effectively.

Must demonstrate English proficiency - both oral and written

Demonstrates good computer skills.
Able to work a flexible schedule, including recruitment and community outreach efforts during evening hours and weekends as needed.
Ability to physically care for children when needed.

Valid NJ driver’s license preferred and use of own vehicle for self-transportation; local travel is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Build strong relationships with expectant families through regular home visits, family contacts, and individualized family partnership plans.
Connect families with community resources, referrals, and support services.
Recruit and enroll eligible expectant mothers, infants, toddlers, and children while maintaining funded enrollment.
Plan and facilitate parent training, support groups, socializations, and family engagement activities.
Maintain accurate family records and enter required data into the program management system.
Collaborate with education, health, and family services staff to address family needs.
Participate in community outreach, recruitment events, staff meetings, and required training.
Provide office, classroom, and phone coverage as needed while ensuring the safety and well-being of children and families.
Other relevant duties as assigned.
