Description:

The primary purpose of your job position is to provide clinical physical therapy evaluation and treatment for program
participants, on acute, restorative or maintenance levels as needed by Day Center, Nursing Home or in-home setting.

Position Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to provide clinical physical therapy evaluation and treatment for program participants, focusing on acute, restorative, or maintenance levels as needed in various settings.

What You Will Do:

  • Evaluate, direct, plan, and treat participants with a wide variety of disabilities to help them achieve maximum functional independence.
  • Assist in ordering, inventory, distribution, and maintenance of durable medical equipment for participants.
  • Assess the need for adaptive Durable Medical Equipment (DME), specialized shoes, and prostheses, and make recommendations to the interdisciplinary team.
  • Serve as a liaison with nursing home and assisted living staff regarding physical therapy needs of participants.
  • Evaluate participants' progress, document therapy notes in medical records, and maintain quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
  • Direct, supervise, perform initial and annual competencies for the Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • Train staff in body mechanics, equipment use, transfers, gait patterns, and safety in performing Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
  • Handle potentially infectious specimens with appropriate biohazard precautions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in physical therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current, unencumbered, active physical therapy license in the state of PACE Organization.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working with a frail or elderly population as a physical therapist.
  • CPR certification and First-aid Certification may be required.
  • State of North Carolina Employee Medical Statement meeting job requirements.
  • Strong communication, conflict management, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment.
