Overview

Lynker is seeking a motivated and talented Program Support Specialist, to support our long-term contract at the Environmental Modeling Center (EMC), in coordinating and supporting a broad range of operational and research activities. This position requires strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills to ensure effective management of projects, resources, and documentation across EMC.  The Program Support Specialist selected will work in a hybrid capacity, generally working 2 days per week in the office, in College Park, MD, and working the remaining days in the week from home.

Responsibilities

Duties of the Program Support Specialist will include the following:

 

  • Assist management with coordination of projects, resources, tools, and communications across EMC.
  • Provide support for interactions with the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Prediction Central Operations (NCO) to resolve issues, communicate resource needs and constraints, and submit and monitor tickets related to resource management.
  • Monitor and document system outages and maintenance activities, and communicate relevant information to management and stakeholders across EMC.
  • Coordinate and track allocation of equipment and support property management activities.
  • Support transitions of IT software and tools by coordinating with NCO.
  • Review and proofread publications such as journal articles, office notes, and presentations; manage associated internal review processes.
  • Provide logistical support for seminars, meetings, and related events.
  • Support documentation of developed algorithms, tools, and codes in office notes, peer-reviewed publications, user guides.
  • Other Duties as Assigned. 

Qualifications

The Ideal Program Support Specialist will meet the following Qualifications"

 

  • Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to provide excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge of computer systems, operating environments, and basic programming concepts to effectively interact with NCO staff, guide users to appropriate resources, and support troubleshooting.
  • Must be someone who can take initiative.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse scientific and technical teams.
  • Familiarity with research environments, high-performance computing systems, and scientific documentation processes is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
