The parts route driver is responsible for loading, delivering parts and or attachments, do daily safety inspections of the van/truck equipment, daily paperwork, provide preventative maintenance on van/ trucks and other general parts department duties as directed by the Inventory control Manager.
Essential Functions
- Driver – Drives over an established route. Document needed paperwork.
- Safely operate and utilize safety restraints on delivery vehicle and powered industrial trucks (Forklifts & Pallet Jacks)
- Perform required daily inspections on delivery vehicle and powered industrial trucks
- Track and ensure required maintenance and service is performed on delivery vehicle
- Operate delivery vehicle in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws
- Utilize and properly maintain all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Ensure delivery vehicle is safe, orderly, and maintained in order to eliminate potential hazards
- Secure parts, equipment, etc. in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws
Other Functions
- Assist with other duties assigned and directed by corporate management within the frame work of Murphy Tractor and Equipment Company, Inc.’s objectives.
- Cooperate with and follow motor vehicle accident and incident reporting safety guidelines and requirements
- Communicate safety concerns to appropriate personnel.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to lift and push a minimum of 50 lbs. frequently. Â Employee must be able to walk, climb, stoop, reach, crawl, crouch, stand, sit and kneel for an extensive amount of time. Â Able to work flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
Education/Work Experience
High school diploma or GED required. Â At least one year of past experience preferred but not required.Â
Work Environment
- Operate a motor vehicle in various whether conditions
- Exposed to outside elements and weather conditions to include, extreme heat, extreme cold, snow, rain, ice, wind and foggy conditions.
- Surface work area will include, gravel, dirt, asphalt, concrete, etc.Â
- Work conditions vary and may include shop settings, high traffic areas, and rural environments.
Physical Requirements
- Consistently be able to stand, sit, and kneel
- Possess ability to load and unload delivery vehicle from ground level multiple times per day, lifting parts ranging between 5lbs. to 50lbs.
- Use hands and fingers to grip, feel, and reach
- Be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Ability to walk up and down stairs
- Adhere to safety policies and standards and wear required personal protective equipment
Requirements and Experience
- Must be 21 years of age, or older
- Possess a valid state issued driver's license
- Satisfactory motor vehicle record free of major/multiple moving violations
- Must be able to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen
