Role Description

Advantage Investigations is seeking an experienced Accident Reconstructionist / Collision Investigator to join our growing team immediately. This position requires a highly skilled professional capable of independently investigating and reconstructing motor vehicle collisions through scene analysis, vehicle inspections, event data recorder (EDR) analysis, photography review, and application of engineering principles, physics, and mathematical calculations.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills and be able to prepare professional written reports and provide expert-level consultation to attorneys, insurance carriers, and other clients. Courtroom testimony and litigation support experience are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

•  Ā Ā Conduct collision scene investigations and vehicle examinationsĀ 

•  Ā Ā Analyze physical evidence, vehicle damage, roadway conditions, photographs, and electronic dataĀ 

•  Ā Ā Download, collect, and interpret Event Data Recorder (EDR) dataĀ 

•  Ā Ā Utilize reconstruction methodologies to determine:Ā 

•  Ā Ā Vehicle speedsĀ 

•  Ā Ā Impact anglesĀ 

•  Ā Ā Changes in velocityĀ 

•  Ā Ā Collision dynamicsĀ 

•  Ā Ā Sequence of eventsĀ 

•  Ā Ā Prepare detailed written reports outlining findings and conclusionsĀ 

•  Ā Ā Communicate findings clearly and professionally to:Ā 

•  Ā Ā AttorneysĀ 

•  Ā Ā Insurance claims professionalsĀ 

•  Ā Ā Law enforcement personnelĀ 

•  Ā Ā Provide litigation support and courtroom testimony when requiredĀ 

•  Ā Ā Operate specialized investigative and reconstruction equipment including:Ā 

•  Ā Ā LIDAR scannersĀ 

•  Ā Ā Drones/UASĀ 

•  Ā Ā Total stationsĀ 

•  Ā Ā Photogrammetry and mapping toolsĀ 

•  Ā Ā Utilize collision reconstruction software platformsĀ 

•  Ā Ā Work independently and manage assignments from intake through final reportingĀ 

•  Ā Ā Maintain professional documentation and chain of custody standardsĀ 

Required Qualifications

•  Ā Ā Demonstrated experience in collision scene investigation and accident reconstructionĀ 

•  Ā Ā Formal accident reconstruction training from a recognized institution such as:Ā 

•  Ā Ā Northwestern University Center for Public SafetyĀ 

•  Ā Ā IPTM (Institute of Police Technology and Management)Ā 

•  Ā Ā Equivalent recognized reconstruction training programsĀ 

•  Ā Ā Membership in professional reconstruction associationsĀ 

•  Ā Ā Experience using one or more collision reconstruction software programsĀ 

•  Ā Ā Experience with specialized reconstruction equipmentĀ 

•  Ā Ā Event Data Recorder (EDR) collection and interpretation training and experienceĀ 

•  Ā Ā Strong written and verbal communication skillsĀ 

•  Ā Ā Ability to independently manage and complete assignmentsĀ 

•  Ā Ā Valid driver’s license and reliable transportationĀ 

Preferred Qualifications

•  Ā Ā ACTAR Certification (Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction)Ā 

•  Ā Ā Automotive repair technician or mechanical experienceĀ 

•  Ā Ā Courtroom testimony experienceĀ 

•  Ā Ā Trial preparation and litigation support experienceĀ 

•  Ā Ā Drone/UAS operation experience and certificationsĀ
