About the Role:

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for administering medications and assisting residents with daily living activities in a senior living community. The CMA works under the supervision of licensed nursing staff to help ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and quality care while promoting independence, dignity, and well-being. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current Certified Medical Aide (CMA) certification in the state of Georgia
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • CPR and First Aid Certification- BLS from the American Heart Association 
  • Ability to pass a background check and meet health screening requirements.
  • Ability to pass a Drug Screen 
  • Knowledge of medication administration procedures and resident care practices
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Compassionate and patient-centered attitude
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and assist residents throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift and/or assist with moving residents according to facility policy
  • Ability to respond quickly during emergencies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in assisted living, long-term care, memory care, or senior living 

Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and permitted by state regulations
  • Observe residents for adverse reactions or changes in condition and report concerns to nursing staff
  • Document medication administration and resident care accurately and timely
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility
  • Take and record vital signs of Residents. e.g., temperature, blood pressure, pulse and raspatory & record information
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of medication carts, resident areas, and supplies
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, HIPAA, and facility policies
  • Respond promptly to resident needs, emergencies, and call lights
  • Provide compassionate emotional support and companionship to residents
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, healthcare providers, and team members
  • Assist with resident admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Attend unit meetings as scheduled, all mandatory in-services and optional in-service per individual needs and interest , for a total of 12 hours annually
  • Outside educational offerings may be substituted for optional in-service hours by providing proof of attendance. Mandatory in-service cannot be substituted 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by authorized personnel or as may be required to meet emergency needs
  • May serve on committees, as requested 

This shift is Part-Time, EOW(Every Other Weekend)
