Job Description Summary

Global Learning Lab Educator is an integral part of a team of educators dedicated to delivering an important learning program for K-12 students that visit Penn Museum. The Global Learning Lab is a two-part program that combines a gallery tour looking closely at objects from different cultures around the world in the Penn Museum collection with an interactive and reflective post-tour workshop. The program intends to increase students’ interest in other people’s perspectives and build empathy for cultures other than their own. The Global Learning Lab Educator works approximately ten hours per week and reports to the Associate Director of Interpretive Programs. This role involves designing and executing gallery tours and classroom workshops that work together to make a substantial and interactive learning experience to improve students’ global competencies. These learning lessons are intended to build students’ essential 21st-century skills, including close observation, critical thinking, and problem-solving, and as well as empathy and respect for other cultures and perspectives.

Job Description

Key responsibilities: (1) Teaching K-12 Global Learning Lab sessions, comprising of interactive gallery tours and classroom workshops. (2) Working closely with the Associate Director of Interpretive Programs and School Visit Manager to develop Global Learning Lab lessons that include a gallery tour and workshop; 3) Participating and completing all Global Learning Lab training sessions and being an active participant in planning meetings; and 4) completing self-assessment evaluation surveys and participating in evaluation feedback sessions to improve program delivery.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job’s level.
