JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

The Terminal & Equipment Cleaner is responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of tractors, the terminal lot, and the terminal building at the Columbus, OH location. This position works part-time on a schedule selected within company-approved hours and balances tractor cleaning with facility and grounds-keeping duties as daily priorities require.

The ideal candidate takes pride in a thorough, consistent job, works well independently, and is comfortable moving between tasks — cleaning tractor cabs one hour and handling general facility or lot work the next — as volume dictates.

This position is part time with hours ranging from 25-30/week.

Essential Responsibilities

• Clean the interior of tractor cabs, including dash, console, seats, sleeper area, and floor, between driver assignments.

• Clean the exterior of tractors using a pressure washer when weather conditions permit.

• Perform general lot cleaning, including trash pickup and weed control around the terminal grounds.

• Clean the interior of the terminal building, including offices, common areas, and restrooms.

• Remove trash from the office and shop areas on a regular schedule.

• Maintain an adequate stock of cleaning supplies and notify the Shop Foreman when supplies need to be reordered.

• Report any tractor damage, maintenance needs, or safety concerns observed while cleaning to the Shop Foreman.

• Perform general facility and grounds-keeping tasks as assigned by the Shop Foreman when tractor-cleaning volume is light.

Schedule

This is a part-time position scheduled between 24 and 30 hours per week. The employee selects their own weekly schedule, provided all hours fall between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Actual days and hours are coordinated with the Shop Foreman.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED.

• Ability to perform physical tasks, including bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing or walking for extended periods.

• Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.

Preferred

• Prior janitorial, custodial, or vehicle detailing experience.

• Experience operating a pressure washer.

• Familiarity with basic facility and grounds maintenance tasks.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to follow established cleaning procedures and safety guidelines.

• Attention to detail and consistent pride in work quality.

• Ability to prioritize and move between tractor cleaning, lot maintenance, and facility cleaning duties within a shift.

• Basic mechanical awareness sufficient to recognize and report equipment issues observed while cleaning.

• Dependability and consistent attendance.

• Ability to work safely around tractors, trailers, and shop equipment.

• Basic knowledge of safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.

Information Sensitivity Rating

Rating: LOW

This position does not require access to company information systems, customer data, driver qualification files, employee personnel or compensation records, or financial systems. Any interaction with company facilities is limited to physical cleaning and grounds-keeping duties.

Handling Expectations

• Comply with all company policies regarding facility access and visitor/vendor protocols while performing duties.

• Report any observed security concerns — such as unsecured doors, unattended access points, or unfamiliar visitors — to the Shop Foreman promptly.

• Complete any security awareness training assigned to this role.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing in and out of tractor cabs.

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking, including on uneven outdoor surfaces and in varying weather conditions.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.

• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, and precipitation, when washing tractor exteriors or performing lot work.

• Use of a pressure washer and standard cleaning equipment and chemicals.
