We are hiring a  Clinical Nurse Manager 2 - Surgical Ward  in our Hospital in Cork, Ireland.

 (Full time, Permanent)

Job Responsibilities 

  • Provide strong clinical leadership and day-to-day management of the inpatient surgical ward.
  • Coordinate and manage ward activity, staffing, and resources to ensure safe and efficient patient care delivery.
  • Act as a role model by promoting a culture of professionalism, accountability, and evidence-based nursing practice.
  • Ensure high standards of patient safety, quality of care, and compliance with hospital policies and clinical guidelines.
  • Provide clinical expertise, guidance, and support to nursing and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Oversee patient care planning, assessment, and evaluation to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Support and implement quality improvement initiatives and service development within the ward.
  • Manage staff performance, development, rostering, and daily operational requirements.
  • Lead and support change management initiatives within the clinical area.
  • Ensure effective communication across all members of the healthcare team.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement of ward services.


    • Requirements

  • Registered General Nurse with active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Minimum of 5 years post-graduate acute care nursing experience is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in Orthopaedic procedures and inpatient surgical care.
  • Proven experience managing a busy surgical ward.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a nursing people management/leadership role.
  • Management qualification is preferable.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and change management skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and clinical governance.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and service development.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and lead by example.
