Position Summary: 

Responsible for assisting in the dispensing of medications, supplies, and related items from the outpatient pharmacy department.  Position will require assistance in all aspects of department activities.  Position will require delivery of prescriptions to areas of hospital, attached or nearby clinics and other locations.  Activities to be supervised and/or directed by a licensed pharmacist.

 

Education, License & Cert: 

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board is required.

 

Experience: 

Previous work experience as a pharmacy technician in an outpatient/retail pharmacy is required.

 

Essential Functions: 

While under the supervision of a pharmacist, assist in the dispensing and preparation of medications, supplies, and related items according to department procedures and policies. Collects and enter necessary patient data into pharmacy computer system. Process and adjudicate prescriptions via computer system and review results for completeness and acceptability. Accurately count, pour, mix, and package/label medications. Collect signatures and payment for prescriptions and other items in and out of the pharmacy according to department procedures. Assist in performing inventory functions as directed by pharmacist. Assist pharmacist in all facets of regulatory compliance Communicate to pharmacist all information necessary for an effective pharmacy operation.

 

Other Duties: 

Handle refill and information requests that do not require the professional expertise or judgement of a pharmacist. Deliver medications or related items to areas of the hospital, adjacent/nearby clinics, or patient homes.  Operation of a Guthrie owned vehicle will be required for some deliveries. Place inventory orders and participate in all inventory control measures. Stock and maintain OTC, prescription, and other areas of the department. Support and promote department activities designed to improve patient care. Follow all State and Federal laws/regulations.  Comply with all Guthrie and department policies and procedures Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Pay Range: $17.68 - $26.25/hour, DOE

 

This position is part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
