Summary

The Designer supports the Design Department by collaborating with Senior Designers and Account Managers on project layouts and specifications. This position is responsible for producing accurate Equipment Plans and Schedules based on rough drafts and specifications, as well as modifying previously completed Equipment Plans and Specifications at the direction of Senior Designers and Account Managers. The Designer will independently, or in coordination with Technical Designers, develop accurate and timely MEP documents based on completed design and specifications. The Designer ensures all drawings and specifications align with project design requirements and meets company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Designers and Account Managers in the production of foodservice construction documents and specifications.
  • Work closely with the internal technical support team to ensure accurate construction documentation, drawings, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with specialty manufacturers and as required to properly execute project design and specifications.
  • Coordinate and interface with architectural, design, and engineering teams to support successful project execution.
  • Coordinate project specifications utilizing the company’s preferred manufacturers where appropriate.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving department standards and processes.
  • Grow industry knowledge through Avanti sponsored training.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Must possess Revit experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and customers while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Proven capacity to thrive in a fast‑paced, rapidly growing environment while delivering consistent, high‑quality results.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Education/Experience

  • Three years of experience producing comprehensive foodservice construction documents, including equipment plans, mechanical/electrical rough-ins, schedules, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of industry standard software required to perform job duties.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound. 
  • Hand dexterity and eye and hand coordination is critical.
  • Lifting. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. 
  • Use of one or both arms and wrists to lift parts, fixtures, and tools on a frequent basis.
  • Sitting. Must be able to sit for long periods of time, but at least 50% of the time. 
  • Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately or quickly.
  • Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of structures. Must be able to read a computer screen for long periods of time.
  • Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one workstation to another.
