Description

The Scientist III serves as a senior technical expert conducting advanced scientific research, analysis, and application development in support of NSWC Crane mission needs. This role leads high-complexity investigations in relevant life or physical science domains, translates scientific findings into practical technical recommendations, and supports integration of emerging technologies into operational contexts. This position is contingent upon award. Award is expected around the end of the year (2026).
 

Requirements

  

- Ph.D. in a science field (per eCRAFT Scientist III labor category).
- 10+ years of professional experience in life or physical science.
- Demonstrated capability in scientific problem definition, experimental design, analysis, and technical reporting.
- Ability to provide technical leadership on high-impact scientific tasks and guide junior staff.
- Active DoD Secret clearance (or clearable to that level) required due to support for classified programs and facilities.    

- Demonstrated success leading applied scientific efforts for DoD/Navy programs.
- Experience designing rigorous experimental methods, analyzing complex datasets, and producing defensible technical conclusions.
- Ability to collaborate with engineering, test, and program teams to transition science outputs into mission use.
- Strong technical communication skills for reports, peer-level technical exchanges, and leadership briefings.
