Responsible for implementing the pre-operativerecord, nursing care plan and the assimilation of the patient’s hospitalrecord. Also responsible for implementing all physician orders, obtainingsignatures on consents, and providing for continuity and quality of nursingcare for patients.
Performs tasks like: Evaluating, planning,implementing, and documenting nursing care needs of the post-operative orpost-procedural patient population; Assessesand maintains adequate ventilation, hemostasis and circulation; assessing levelof consciousness, providing pain management, and ensuring the safety of thepatient until transfer to another unit; and Observes patient, records significant conditions andreactions, and notifies supervisor or
Physician of patient's condition and reaction todrugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program
- Current Registered Nurse licensure by the State of Indiana
- Healthcare BLS, ACLS & PALS certification. (ACLS & PALS certification must be obtained per department guidelines)
- Two (2) or more years pre-operative nursing experience
- Experience with cath lab patients a plus.
HIGHLY PREFERRED:
- Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN)
- Three (3) or more years pre-operative or pre-admitting nursing experience OR recovery room or PACU nursing experience
